Luxury Yacht Charter Review
Top Charter Yachts from the 2011 Genoa Charter Yacht Show

The 2011 Genoa Luxury Yacht Charter Show has just ended, with dozens upon dozens of charter yachts on display. For the upcoming summer season in the Mediterranean, Seven Seas charter broker Tim Nelson is pleased to recommend several of the most talked-about megayachts from the show—as well as a couple of longtime favorites that looked beautiful on the docks.

Among the most impressive new launches was Yogi, a 197-footer from the Proteksan-Turquoise shipyard in Turkey. Yogi was specifically built for charter with cinema-style movie sofas, an aft-deck swimming pool, and a fully enclosed sundeck lounge with 360-degree views of anchorages. Yogi also has not one, but two separate teak beach clubs along with a dedicated massage room and countless sunning areas. At a lowest weekly base rate of €357,000 for 12 guests, Yogi is definitely going to be one of the most talked-about megayachts in the Mediterranean this summer.

Also sure to be turning heads in the Mediterranean this season is the 205-foot Icon motoryacht Baton Rouge. She was one of the most elegant new motoryachts on display at Genoa, with rich interior woodwork and contemporary furnishings that at once feel modern and comfortable. Baton Rouge offers charter guests a teak beach club, a dedicated gymnasium, and a forward observation lounge that is sure to be a popular gathering space. Her lowest weekly base rate for 12 guests this summer is €420,000.

Much smaller but gaining just as much attention in Genoa this year was the 128-foot Hakvoort motoryacht SnowBird. She launched from the Dutch builder in 2010 with a unique interior décor that is reminiscent of a modern art museum. Warhol, De Kooning, and Lichtenstein are just a handful of the masters whose works adorn SnowBird’s walls, with all of the yacht’s interior furnishings designed to complement the art collection. SnowBird’s weekly base rate this summer is €140,000 for 10 guests.

On display near SnowBird this year at Marina Fiera were two megayachts that Tim has liked for quite some time. The 161-foot Trinity Zoom, Zoom, Zoom was looking as elegant and beautifully maintained as she did when she launched in 2005, and the 144-foot Warren Silver Dream was displayed with just as much pizzazz and contemporary sparkle as she showed following her 2001 launch.

“It’s worth mentioning that Silver Dream and Zoom, Zoom, Zoom are being offered this summer in U.S. dollars, which makes them a great value compared with similar-size yachts being offered in euro,” Tim says. “Silver Dream is offered at a weekly base rate of $147,000 for 10 guests, while Zoom, Zoom, Zoom lists at $190,000 for 10 guests.”
